Peel police are investigating after a threat was directed at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Brampton.

Police tell CityNews the threat of a shooting was made on social media. They later tweeted that they were investigating an image found in a school washroom, adding that there are no public safety concerns at this time.

The principal of the school, Rosina Ariganello, sent a letter out to students and parents, saying there would be a police presence at the school on Thursday.

“Rumours of a threat against our school have been circulating in our school community since yesterday,” she wrote. “Please be assured that we are investigating this matter in conjunction with Peel Regional Police.  Police officers will be at our school today as the investigation continues.”

“I want to stress that we take threats of any kind very seriously, whether intended as pranks or otherwise, and work closely with police authorities to ensure student and staff safety. This includes prosecution to the full extent of the law.”
