A 20-year-old Hamilton man is under arrest after a possible abduction early Thursday morning.

Police say they received reports of a possible abduction at the Stoney Creek Hotel on Highway 8 around 7:30 a.m.

Witnesses claimed that multiple men, believed to be in their 20s, were causing a disturbance inside the hotel and had assaulted a male employee. The employee suffered non-life threatening injuries in the assault.

The suspects then allegedly took a woman in her 20s against her will and fled the area in a black coloured Dodge Journey.

Police spotted the SUV travelling on the QEW eastbound towards Fifty Road in Stoney Creek. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it fled the area.

A short time later police found the vehicle and the woman safe.

The suspect has been charged with flight from police and drive disqualified. Police said additional charges may follow.

The suspect’s name will not be released until all charges are laid and brought before the courts.

Outstanding suspect details have not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
