Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may have been in New York for “Come From Away” but he was the topic of conversation in California on Wednesday night.

Canadian actor Matthew Perry was on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and shared his connection to Trudeau. The actor, known as Chandler Bing on “Friends”, admitted he once beat up the prime minister.

Perry, 47, is two years older Trudeau, who turned 45 on Dec. 25, but they apparently went to the same elementary school.

“I was reminded of this, my friend Chris Murray who was also in the fifth grade in Canada, reminded me that we actually beat up Justin Trudeau,” Perry said.

When Kimmel asked why, the actor said, “I think he was excelling in a sport … it was pure jealously.”

At the time, Trudeau’s father, Pierre Trudeau, was the prime minister.

Perry said he wasn’t proud of the moment and feels shame.

“Don’t they have Secret Service there protecting the children of their prime ministers?,” Kimmel joked.
