The blunder for best picture wasn’t the only mistake made at the Academy Awards Sunday night.
During the ‘In Memoriam’ tribute, the wrong photo was displayed for late Australian costume producer and four-time Oscar nominee Janet Patterson. The photo put up on the screen instead was of her longtime friend and producing colleague, Jan Chapman, who is very much alive.
Patterson’s mistaken identity was pointed out on social media almost instantly.

In an interview with entertainment site Variety, Chapman said she was devastated by the mistake.
“I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and long-time collaborator Janet Patterson. I had urged her agency to check any photograph which might be used and understand that they were told that the Academy had it covered,” she said.
The two producers worked together on 1993’s The Piano.
Patterson died of cancer last year at the age of 60.
The Academy has yet to comment about the gaffe.
