A handful of large white rabbits have arrived in Toronto, just in time for Easter.

The public art installation, created by Amanda Parer is called Intrude and the inflatable 7 metre high rabbits have moved into Brookfield Place in the Financial District.

“They are huge, the size referencing “the elephant in the room”, the problem, like our environmental impact, big but easily ignored,” said Parer on her website.

Before Toronto, the rabbits lived in 19 other cities across the world including London, Perth, Paris and Boston.

“They represent the fairytale animals from our childhood – a furry innocence, frolicking through idyllic fields,” said Parer. “Intrude deliberately evokes this cutesy image, and a strong visual humour, to lure you into the artwork only to reveal the more serious environmental messages in the work.”

The rabbits first arrived in Toronto on March 14 and are only staying until Wednesday.
