Two arrested after high-speed police chase in Durham

A police pursuit in Durham Region ended with a car hitting a police cruiser and two men taken into custody.

The police chase started around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday when officers tried to a pull over a suspected impaired driver at Wentworth and Cedar streets, south of Highway 401, in Oshawa. But the vehicle didn’t stop.

Police pursued the car onto the 401 with speeds reaching 150 km/h.

The police chase ended about 10 minutes later on Westney Road in Ajax when the car hit one of the cruisers.

The driver and passenger were both taken into custody.

Police told 680 NEWS the 38-year-old driver has a suspended licence. Police still looking at charges including driving while impaired by drugs.

No injuries were reported.
