Former New York Yankees reliever Goose Gossage teed off on Toronto slugger Jose Bautista in a profanity laced tirade during an interview with ESPN on Thursday.

The Hall of Fame pitcher called Bautista a “[expletive] disgrace to the game” for showing up another player with his bat flipping incident during Game 5 of the ALCS last fall.

“He’s embarrassing to all the Latin players, whoever played before him. Throwing his bat and acting like a fool, like all those guys in Toronto,” Gossage is quoted as saying.

When informed of the comments, Bautista took the high road rather than get into a war of words.

“I don’t agree with him. I’m disappointed that he made those comments, but I’m not going to get into it with him,” he told ESPN. “I would never say anything about him, no matter what he said about me. I have too much good stuff to worry about his comments.”

He later went on to tweet this message, which had the support of fellow teammates Marcus Stroman and Josh Donaldson

Gossage also went on to criticize the “nerds” who are running the game of baseball.

“It’s a joke,” Gossage said. “I’ll tell you what has happened, these guys played rotisserie baseball at Harvard or wherever the [expletive] they went, and they thought they figured the [expletive] game out. They don’t know s—.”
