Ontario is offering additional incentives to people who buy electric cars, up to a maximum of $14,000.

Current incentives range from $5,000 to $8,500 and the Liberal government announced Wednesday that is increasing to a range of $6,000 to $10,000.

Drivers could also get another $3,000 if their vehicle has a larger battery capacity and another $1,000 if the vehicle has five or more seats.

But for higher-end vehicles, priced between $75,000 and $150,000 the incentive is capped at $3,000.

This announcement is retroactive to Jan. 1, so the Liberals say anyone who bought an electric vehicle already this year can apply.
