Lakeshore shooting now deemed a homicide, one arrested

An early morning shooting in Etobicoke on Tuesday is now a homicide after the 22-year-old victim died in hospital.

Around 4 a.m., Tevin James went to a basement apartment in the Lake Shore Boulevard West and 11th Street area, between Kipling and Islington avenues.

Police said an altercation ensued between James and a 20-year-old man inside the apartment.

James was shot in the stomach at close range and rushed to the hospital in serious condition.

On Thursday, Frederick Leon of Toronto was located and arrested.

He has been charged with second-degree murder, robbery, several firearm- and weapons-related charges and five drug related charges.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have known the whereabouts of Leon up until Thursday.
