Brazen North York car break-in caught on video

A brazen break-in of a Mercedes parked in a driveway of a home at Avenue Road and Highway 401 was captured on video by the car’s owner.

The incident, which occurred just before 4 a.m. on Thursday, was captured on a security camera by Andrew Revai.

In the video, the suspect is quickly able to break into the car without triggering the vehicle’s alarm. He casually grabs items in the front seat and glove compartment and goes through them while standing next to the car.

He then unlocks the back door, and upon opening the door he triggers the alarm. He takes a few more moments to rummage through the remaining contents of the car before taking a few items and jogging back to his awaiting truck.

It appears the suspect is aware that his actions could be recorded on video, as he approaches the car with his face partially covered and turns his back to the visible camera while rifling through the vehicle’s contents. He looks back at the home a number of times as he goes through the car’s contents.

Revai said he posted cameras on his house because the home had been previously broken into. He said he contacted police and filed a report online.
