Effective New Year’s Day, it will be easier for TTC riders to buy tickets, tokens and passes.
The TTC is now accepting debit and credit cards to purchase 10 or more tokens and any passes at all subway station collector booths.
TTC officials announced the move on Dec. 16, and said it will help modernize the transit service and cut down on delays.
At the time, TTC Chair Josh Colle said that a “wave-and-pay” system for single fares will be available in the summer.
“We need to make riding the rocket more convenient for people if we are going to encourage people to use it,” Mayor John Tory said at the December news conference.
TTC CEO Andy Byford said token vending machines will not be upgraded.
