Angus woman faces human trafficking offences

Halton police have rescued a 15-year-old girl being forced into sex work during a sweep of a Burlington hotel, and arrested a 22-year-old woman on four human trafficking charges.

The Halton police human trafficking and vice unit were investigating the hotel on Jan. 22 as part of a two-day national initiative to crack down on human trafficking and provide information to those working in the sex trade industry.

Amie McIntyre, of Angus, Ont., faces offences, including trafficking of a person under the age of 18, procuring a person to become a prostitute and living off the avails of person under the age of 18.

Const. Martin Dick told CityNews the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
