A Toronto teen whose cover of a Katy Perry song made headlines around the world is now “singing with the angels,” Perry said over Twitter.
Olivia Wise, 16, who recorded a video of herself singing Perry’s song Roar, died peacefully in her home on Monday, her family said.
Wise suffered from brain cancer.
“Your spirit & strength has inspired me & so many others… May you rest in peace,” Perry said.
Olivia Wise, I can hear you singing with the angels now. Your spirit & strength has inspired me & so many others… May you rest in peace.

Wise recorded the original video in early October at a local music studio, but could not stand for the performance. She was so weak, she had to sit down.
The video drew the attention of Perry who posted a response to Wise saying she was “very moved” by the video and Wise “sounded great.”
Friends and family gathered together on Tuesday at the funeral for the young girl. Shortly before her death Wise told her mother she didn’t want anyone to cry at her funeral but rather celebrate her life.
During the service family members read out letters Wise wrote to them filled with impassioned words of love.
The Liv Wise fund was set up to support children living with brain tumours.
Family members said Wise’s rendition of ‘Roar’ will be available for purchase on iTunes with all proceeds going to the fund.
