A 26-year-old man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after the bodies of his parents were found inside a Scarborough home Sunday morning.

Emergency officials were called to a house on Huntsmill Blvd. around 10 a.m.

“The suspect’s cousin went to a payphone this morning and called 911,” said Det. Dean Burks of Toronto homicide. “York Regional Police responded to that call, obtained information from her and attended the address here with members of the Toronto Police Service.”

Inside police found the bodies of a man and woman, both in their 50s.

After further investigation the homicide unit was called in.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

Neighbours told CityNews the family had only lived in the home for about a year and that they kept to themselves.

There has been no word on the cause of death.
