A 24-year-old man is facing charges in connection with the sexual assault of a five-year-old girl.

The girl was allegedly assaulted on several occasions at a home daycare on Green Bush Rd., near Yonge Street and Steeles Avenue West.

Cyril Gayola of Toronto has been charged with forcible confinement, sexual assault and sexual interference.

The accused is the son of the daycare owner, a retired nurse who runs the program with her daughter.

Neighbours described the family as hard working and say the allegations are shocking.

“He would take my son to the park to play soccer as a part of the daycare – let him run off steam sometimes,” one mother who’s two children went to the daycare a few years ago, told CityNews.

“I didn’t interact with Cyril enough to really know what he was like as a person but it doesn’t jive with what I know of the household. That’s any mother’s nightmare.”

The daycare has been in operation for several years and take care of approximately four children at a time.

Police believe there may be more victims.

“There’s a possibility there could have been other kids that could have been victimized,” Const. Tony Vella told CityNews. “In some cases people do come forward and there are other victims out there, in this case there could be. If that’s the case come forward, we definitely want to hear from you.”
