A dog and two cats are unaccounted for after a massive house fire in Markham on Thursday night, Markham Fire Platoon Chief Dave Reid told CityNews.
The fire broke out at 19 Wincanton Road near Brimley Road and 14th Avenue.
Crews arrived around 6:15 p.m. to find the home fully engulfed and took a defensive position before containing the blaze.
“We are not treating the fire as suspicious,” Reid said.
No one was hurt, and the search for the missing animals is ongoing.
Reid wouldn’t comment on a cause, but said an investigation will continue on Friday involving the Fire Marshall and York Region Police.
Damage is extensive, he said.
“The entire roof was ablaze,” one witness said. “I have never seen a fire that big before.”

YOUR A SICK PRICK ASSHOLE
3 pets unaccounted for after Markham house fire – the owner, the owner’s stick, and the stick inside the owner (‘s backside).
Its horrible what happen to this family, i live one block from the fire and was shocked to see it in person when the house was fully engulfed in flames !
Is there any trust-fund being setup for this family who lost everything including beloved pets ???
If someone could answer this question i would really appreciate knowing if i could help in getting this family help for the tragedy they have suffered
Glad to hear everyone is ok. Very sad that there are missing pets. People that have and love their pets would find it heartbreaking to lose one this way.
Pets are just that, “pets”. All the “people” are Ok and that’s what matters.
I am glad there were serious no injuries, but it’s very unfortunate about the pets. I live at Mccowen and Steeles and could smell and see the smoke around 630 when I got off the bus. It’s great the firefighters got it under control, because it must have been a very large fire. My sympathies to everyone who was involved!
