Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal shooting involving an OPP officer in Kawartha Lakes on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:50 p.m., the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said an OPP cruiser and another vehicle collided. The officer fired his weapon during an interaction with the driver of the vehicle.
The man fled on foot and was found dead a short time later.
The SIU, which probes cases involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault, has assigned five investigators and two forensic investigators to probe the incident.
