A man was struck and killed by a GO train on Thursday morning in Burlington.
Police say the man was hit by the train around 6 a.m. near Burloak Drive, near Appleby station.
Authorities haven’t released the man’s name or age.
GO Transit experienced serious problems on its Lakeshore West and East lines as a result. Train service on the Lakeshore West line was suspended between Hamilton GO Centre and the Oakville GO station for about three hours, resuming just before 9 a.m. GO said delays would continue as they worked to get trains back on schedule.
During the investigation, GO cancelled three trains on the Lakeshore East line.
The Kitchener line was also affected.

I believe is the train crossing signals that drop down so late and dont give enough time for people to avoid getting hit on the train track. The signals should drop down 30sec earlier before the train come. For example, you don’t see alot people and cars crossing a street at the corss light getting hit by a car offen. They should put a countdown timer at the train crossing signals so that they know how long they will have before is to late. Other then the corssing signals problem, they are properly J-walking on the track which is a bad idea.
