Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan is resigning his seat next week, according to a report.
According to a Toronto Star report, Duncan told the Windsor Star that he will resign his seat two days after Premier-designate Kathleen Wynne announces a new cabinet on Monday.
Duncan said in October that he would step down after a new Ontario Liberal leader was chosen.
When Wynne held her first caucus meeting last week, Duncan said he would resign his seat but denied he had already accepted a private-sector job.
“The party needs to renew itself and therefore, people like me really do need to step aside,” Duncan said last week.
Duncan is expected to speak with reporters Thursday.
