The Toronto Raptors continue to be linked to Rudy Gay in trade rumours.
According to a report from ESPN.com, the Raptors have been the “most determined suitor” for the 26-year-old forward, actively pursuing Gay from the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Raptors have also reportedly expressed interest in Grizzlies forward Darrell Arthur. The ESPN report said the team may be willing to offer point guard Jose Calderon and power forward Ed Davis to land Arthur and Gay from Memphis.
Calderon, who has an expiring contract, could be an attractive trade chip for a playoff team in need of veteran experience.
Kyle Lowry and Andrea Bargnani have also been mentioned in trade rumours earlier this season and the Raptors could be willing to move either of the two players in a trade.
Despite the Raptors interest in Gay, the framework for a trade has yet to be established and the Grizzlies may decide to stand pat with their roster.
“We really like our team” and that it is “more likely than not that we do nothing,” new Grizzlies CEO Jason Levien told reporters last week after the team cleared out approximately $6 million in salary in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, sending Marreese Speights, Wayne Ellington, Josh Selby and a future first-round draft pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jon Leuer.
After Monday’s loss, the Raptors have a 16-29 record and sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
