While the debate over bringing a casino to Toronto continues to rage, gamblers are taking advantage of the next best thing – a virtual casino at Woodbine Racetrack that features traditional games like poker, baccarat, and blackjack.

The only difference; there’s no human dealers.

OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti told CityNews the electronic table games were added to Woodbine’s existing slot machines in mid-October.

The games fall under the same category as slot machines, so they didn’t need any special approval.

“Because there is no live dealer or live dice…it does qualify under those regulations as a slot facility,” Bitonti said.

Counc. Adam Vaughan fears the machines will spread throughout the city.

“The goal of OLG is not just to put a mega-casino somewhere in the city, it’s to put slot machines, whether it’s video poker or video lottery or video bingo…in every corner-store and bar in the city.”
