A Newmarket man faces several child luring offences for allegedly trying to meet an underage person for sex last week after posting an online ad seeking young girls.
On Nov. 13, the accused posted an ad on a popular classifieds website, which police declined to name. He used the pseudonym Damian Marshell and the online name, dammar001.
He was arrested last Friday morning following an investigation by police, including members of York Regional Police’s Internet child exploitation unit and the sex assault bureau, Det. Clint Whitney told CityNews.
But Whitney declined to say if the arrest was part of an undercover sting, just that there were “multiple components” to the investigation and that the accused was arrested in public in Newmarket.
Sean Dalrymple, 46, was charged with luring to facilitate the commission of sexual assault and possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis, among other criminal offences.
He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
