The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 remained in first place at the box office, raking in US$ 17.4 million in its third week in theatres.

The final installment of the vampire series has earned nearly $254.6 million since its Nov. 16 opening.

All of the top three movies had been in theatres for several weeks, but it was a bad week for new releases. Brad Pitt’s latest film, Killing Them Softly, had a disappointing $7 million-opening — the worst of any of Pitt’s films since 1994’s The Favor, according to E! Online.

The Collection, the sequel to the horror film The Collector, made $3.4 million in its opening weekend.

The latest film in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, opened in second place. It was just behind Twilight with $17 million. The movie opened on Nov. 9 and has so far made $246 million.

The second Abraham Lincoln movie released this year (the other featured the 16th president of the United States as a vampire hunter) came in third place. Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln made $13.5 million in its second week in theatres.
