A 26-year-old man is in hospital after being struck by a taxi cab in the city’s west end Sunday morning.

It happened at around 2:30 a.m. in the Queensway and Park Lawn Road area.

Police say they arrived on scene where a taxi-cab driver had activated the amber light emergency system, indicating something was wrong.

As the officer exited his vehicle, he was approached by the pedestrian, who was walking across live lanes of traffic on The Queensway.

As the man attempted to cross the street when he was struck by a different cab heading eastbound.

Police say the man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.

There has been no word on charges.

The Special Investigations Unit probed the incident but decided an SIU investigation was not necessary.
