Peterborough police are trying to track down suspects who stole an ultralight airplane from a local hangar.

Officers were called to the Peterborough Municipal Airport on Wednesday where thieves, sometime overnight, broke into the Aerostrike Aviation Ultralight Flight School facility and took off with a plane and equipment — including two sets of airplane wings and a boat trailer.

The plane didn’t have wings attached. Police said the two sets of wings stolen don’t belong to the plane. So if the thieves try and fly the plane with the mismatched wings they could detach mid-flight.

The missing plane is described as a red and black 2004 Airborne Aerostrike model 912XT. Police estimate the stolen wingless plane and equipment are worth $92,000.
