A 42-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle collision in Oshawa, Saturday.

It happened just before 3 a.m. on Oxford Street.

Police say the vehicle had fled the scene of another collision before the man lost control of the car, which then collided with a tree.

A female passenger suffered a broken leg.

The man was transported to Sunnybrook with serious, life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor.

A section of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision.
