Streetcars began running again on Spadina Avenue on Sunday for the first time in five months after the TTC wrapped up a good part of its construction work on the street.

The project, which began in June, involved track repair, modifying passenger platforms and shelters and adapting overhead wires to work with the new low-floor streetcars.

The accessible streetcars will start running in 2014 and should completely replace the old ones by 2019.

The 510 Spadina will turn back at King Street until later this year, and buses will run between King and Queens Quay.

More track work is scheduled for next summer.
