A TTC streetcar driver is being credited with assisting an east end stabbing victim on Friday night.

Det. Robert Whalen told CityNews a man in his 20s was stabbed after getting into a verbal argument with four unknown suspects.

It happened around 8:30 p.m on Caroll Street, near Queen and Broadview.

The TTC said the driver provided shelter for the injured man on a streetcar and rendered medical assistance until police and EMS arrived.

The victim was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The intersection was briefly closed, but has since reopened.

Police say they have video of the incident and they are urging the suspects to turn themselves in.
