A man accused of forcing his way into a north Toronto home in broad daylight and sexually assaulting two sisters at knife-point faces nearly a dozen charges, including sexual assault with a weapon and threatening death.

Alaa Ali Hejazi, 20, of Toronto, surrendered to police early Wednesday morning and was charged the same day. He will appear in court on Thursday morning.

Det.-Sgt. LeeAnn Papizewski said the investigation is ongoing, but so far it appears the attack was random.

“We have no direct evidence to link the accused to the victims,” she said, adding that the accused has not been connected to any other crimes.

Police allege the accused knocked on the front door of a home near Lawrence Avenue and Avenue Road around 10 a.m. Monday, posing as a newspaper salesman. When one of the victims answered, it’s alleged he forced his way inside with a knife, and sexually assaulted the women, aged 25 and 30.

During an ensuing struggle, police say Hejazi suffered a wound to the torso. Both women were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and have since been released.

High-quality images of the suspect from a TTC bus were released to media, and police credit the widely-distributed photos with prompting the suspect to surrender.

Hejazi was driven by his mother early Wednesday morning to 12 Division at Black Creek and Trethewey drives.

“He obviously did see those images and his mother did see those images as well,” Papizewski said.

When confronted outside the family’s Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue-area townhouse in North York, Hejazi’s mother declined to comment.

“I can’t say anything,” she said. “Talk to my lawyer.”

She also demanded the media stop airing pictures released by police allegedly showing her son.

Hejazi’s home, where he lives with his mother and two sisters, was sealed off as police continue their investigation.

Hejazi faces the following charges:

•    two counts of Forcible Confinement
•    Break-and-Enter Commit
•    two counts of Threaten Bodily Harm
•    Two counts of Sexual Assault with a Weapon
•    two count of Robbery
•    Threatening Death
•    Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
