A man was rushed to hospital Monday morning after suffering serious burns in a two-alarm fire on Queen Street West, just west of Spadina Avenue.

The flames apparently started around 6 a.m. on the third-floor of the four-storey building that houses Jacobs Hardware store and apartments, next to the Cameron House bar at the corner of Cameron Street.

The fire was out about an hour later.

Firefighters had to rescue several people who were trapped on the roof of the building. The 30-year-old victim was in front of the building when crews arrived. There are no reports of other injuries.

Authorities are trying to determine the cause. There’s no word yet on a damage estimate.

This fire comes less than two weeks after a three-alarm blaze on Queen Street West at Peter Street gutted a building housing a Roots store. Police say that fire was suspicious.
