Police are ramping up efforts to solve a two-year old shooting case involving an apparent sniper who shot at a vehicle on Highway 401 in Clarington.

It happened on July 28, 2010, at around 5:15 p.m. Police say a pickup truck merging onto the 401 at Courtice Road was hit by a bullet. Investigators believe the shot was fired from a field near the highway.

The driver wasn’t injured.

A few weeks later a large quantity of military equipment, ammunition and explosive devices were found in a wooded area nearby. Police believe the discovery is linked to the shooting.

On Thursday, Crime Stoppers and Durham Regional Police released a re-enactment video, hoping to develop new leads.

“We are anxious to solve this case and believe somebody out there has information that will help police make an arrest. We are hoping by watching this video, witnesses will come forward,” said Crime Stopper’s co-ordinator Mary Carr.
