Actor-director Ben Affleck has altered the postscript of his movie about the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis after friends of Ken Taylor, former ambassador to Iran, complained about the insulting portrayal of the Canadian hero.

Taylor confirmed this change with 680News Wednesday.

It’s one of those shining moments for Canadians — the heroic efforts of Taylor helped six Americans escape during the hostage crisis.

However, Argo — the movie based on the crisis which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival — gave all the credit to the Central Intelligence Agency and diminished Taylor’s and Canada’s role.

Friends of Taylor were dismayed about how Taylor was portrayed and took action.

Their efforts have been rewarded.

Affleck called Taylor, invited him to Hollywood for a private screening and agreed to change the postscript to more accurately reflect Taylor’s and Canada’s role.
