A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough Saturday night.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at McCowan and Ellesmere Roads, shortly before 9 p.m.

Police tell CityNews a car travelling westbound on Ellesmere was entering the intersection at a green light, when the pedestrian walked out, against traffic. The victim is a 50-year-old man.

The intersection was closed for several hours for the investigation.
