The person who abandoned an abused and neglected dog in Milton last month was caught on tape, the Oakville & Milton Humane Society said Friday.

The boxer – who has since been named Chance by humane society staff – was thrown over the fence at J.M. Denyes Public School, near Bronte and Main streets, on Feb. 24.

Halton Regional police noticed the dog whimpering in the outdoor play area and called the humane society.

The dog already had a broken hip, as well as a very bad case of mites that caused him to lose most of his fur.

“I think at this point, we’re trying to get some justice for Chance,” Dr. Sarah Machell at the North Oakville Animal Hospital said Friday.

The video surveillance tape has not been public.
