Subway service from Bloor to Osgoode on the Yonge-University line resumed Sunday morning after a watermain break at Union station, the TTC confirmed.

“I’m not happy about this and we’ll get to the bottom of it but my priority is to get the tunnel dried out and to keep people moving,” TTC acting general manager Andy Byford said on Saturday.

“There were contractors working on the platform Saturday morning … In doing the work, they managed to breach the watermain.Water poured into the track through the inverts and the track was flooded. Our safety system kicked in and service was immediately suspended.”

The TTC originally said service would resume Saturday afternoon, but later said it would start again at 9 a.m. Sunday, when the subway normally opens.

The flooding did not affected streetcar service.
