Another Ottawa-area couple has hit the jackpot, winning $11.5 million in a recent lottery
Rene and Suzanne Longpre of Limoges, Ont., claimed their cheque at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.’s head office on Thursday, just a day after a couple from Hawkesbury picked up their $50 million prize.

The Longpres were on a shopping trip to Walmart when they learned they held the winning ticket for the Feb. 25 Lotto 6/49 draw.

The two are regular lottery players and have played the same numbers, based on the birthdays of their grandchildren, for more than seven years. But it was lucky mistake that won them the jackpot, the OLG said.

“When I was buying my tickets for that draw I had left my special numbers at home – so I just got Quick Pick numbers. Good thing I did,” Rene said.

The retired couple, who have two adult children, plan to set up trust funds for their three grandchildren, buy new homes for their sons and travel the world.

“It was always a dream of mine to visit Hawaii,” Suzanne said. “Now it looks like that dream will come true — and just in time for our 45th wedding anniversary.”

The winning ticket was purchased at an Ultramar gas station in Limoges.
