Toronto police are warning the public about a man who is posing as a police officer in the Church and Wellesley area.

Police say the suspect has approached several elderly men, identifying himself as an undercover officer before requesting to see identification.

Police allege he then removes money from the victims’ wallets.

The man never shows any identification.  Police want to remind the public that plainclothes police officers will identify themselves both verbally and with a police badge and warrant card.

The suspect is described as:

  • white,
  • 50 – 60,
  • 5’10″, 200 – 220lbs., medium to heavy build, and has short grey hair.
  • He was wearing dark pants, a dark baseball cap, a light coloured, short-sleeve shirt with collar.
