Michael Douglas says he has beaten cancer and is preparing to head back to work.
The Oscar-winning actor made the declaration during a morning talk show interview, saying the tumour at the base of his tongue is gone after it was first detected six months ago.
After intense treatments, he is now gaining weight, eating “like a pig,” and preparing to play flamboyant pianist Liberace in an upcoming movie.
Despite the positive outlook, Douglas, 66, says his health will be monitored on a regular basis.
Douglas has two children with actress Catherine Zeta-Jones.
