About 1,000 people are needed to help carry out the largest security event in Canadian history.

Contemporary Security Canada has been awarded the contract for the G8 and G20 summits later this month and is hiring approximately 1,100 workers to man checkpoints and conduct screenings.

The company is offering positions with wages that range from $20 to $24 an hour, according to its website. You need an Ontario Security Guard licence to apply for the two-week gig.

The G20 summit is being held at the Metro Convention Centre June 26 and 27th. The security zone is bordered by Queen Street West and the waterfront and Yonge Street and Spadina Avenue.

The security company is also in charge of screening services at the G8 summit in Huntsville, Ont. June 25 and 26th.

The B.C.-based security company provided screening for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
