A Toronto teacher charged with sex crimes will appear in court Friday.
David Dewees is facing two counts of invitation to sexual touching and two counts of luring.
“At this time, we have no information to suggest the Mr. Dewees has had any contact offenses with any child,” Detective Bill McGary outlined.
Toronto Police believe he contacted two boys over the Internet. While Dewees taught English and Latin at Jarvis Collegiate Institute, he met his two victims while working at a second job.
Dewees, 32, allegedly befriended the pair while at the Ontario Pioneer Camp in Port Sydney, sometime between July 2008 and July 2009.
Dawees then allegedly used four online accounts to communicate inappropriately with his victims – both under the age of 16.
Police believe there may be more victims and have released his email addresses in the hopes that others will come forward:
Dewees has been employed by the Toronto District School Board since 2003. Jarvis Collegiate sent a letter home with students to inform them of the charges.
