It is a large park stretching more than two city blocks.
But it wasn’t big enough to keep two groups away from each other Friday night.
Toronto Police are still looking into the motive for a stabbing that’s left an 18-year-old man in hospital.
It happened around the dinner hour at G. Ross Lord Park in the Dufferin and Steeles area. It’s a very large tract of land that stretches all the way to Finch Ave. Cops say the victim was with a group of friends when they were approached by several people.
It’s not clear exactly what happened after that or what words may have been exchanged but the young man was stabbed in the lower back.
He was immediately rushed to hospital to be treated for his wounds, which are considered serious but apparently not life threatening. Authorities have set up a perimeter and are continuing their probe, but so far, they haven’t found the suspects.
And with the amount of areas to cover and the number of places to disappear in the vast space, finding them may not be easy.
